A good salesman should always ask the customer questions to find out what they are looking for, but it is also very important for the customer to ask questions as well.
I know that some customers don’t want to be bothered by a salesman; I’m that way myself sometimes. But if you are looking for something in particular, ask questions.
Most stores have only so much showroom space, therefore not all of their items are out for one to see. Many items and styles could be in the warehouse, so ask the salesman if they have other items. Many times, what you’re looking for may be in the back of the store. Sometimes customers might want something in a different color or fabric. Again, ask, they might have others in the back.
Another important question to ask is about warranty information. Check and see what all is under warranty with each brand. Warranties do differ from brand to brand. Also, ask for some background on a particular brand if you are unfamiliar with them. If your salesman is trustworthy, asking them what brand they recommend for a certain item is definitely valuable information. They are more familiar with the quality and dependability of all of their products.
Many times, questions about matching pieces together can be helpful. What kind of lamps would look good with this, what kind of rug would match this, and what color recliner would compliment this set are also good questions to ask.
Furniture is an investment. To protect your investment, visit with a trustworthy furniture associate and pick their brain. If you were buying a car, wouldn’t you ask a number of questions, so that you can make an educated purchase?
